Description

The Water Caucus is a group of individuals and representatives from organizations with an interest in water-related issues, including those relating to water quality monitoring, river and watershed health, wetlands, environmental racism, citizen science, education, habitat restoration, aquatic invasive species and water governance at all scales.

Watershed Working Group Co-Chairs are passionate people who understand the importance of networking and creating opportunities for community engagement about water issues. They also seek out partnerships and foster collaboration around these issues. 

The Watershed Working Group is an active working group of the Water Caucus that meets regularly to collaborate on ongoing initiatives as describe above. Volunteer Co-Chairs of this group share the responsibilities and tasks described below. 

Potential Duties

  • Facilitate 1 hour monthly meetings and guide group discussions.
  • Ensure all participants have opportunities to contribute.
  • Finalize and circulate meeting agendas and meeting links.
  • Send meeting reminders and calendar invitations.
  • Coordinate with the other Co-Chair(s) to alternate responsibilities.
  • Help track action items and ongoing projects between meetings.

 

Skills Preferred

  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to facilitate discussions and work collaboratively.
  • Comfortable using Google Drive, Google Docs, email, and calendar tools.
  • Time management skills and reliability in meeting deadlines.
  • Interest in watershed conservation and environmental issues.

 

Location

Virtual (electronically) within Nova Scotia. 

 

Time Commitment

Attend one monthly meeting.
Approximately 1–3 hours per month for meeting preparation, agenda development, or follow-up communications.
Ongoing coordination with fellow volunteers between meetings as needed.
