NSEN has enjoyed tremendous growth since 2020, driven by full-time staff acquired through grants. The volunteer Board of Directors has enabled and steered this growth by managing high-level operations, overseeing staff projects, pursuing funding opportunities, and developing strategic plans for the future.
We are currently looking to fill two recently vacated seats on our Board of Directors to ensure that we can keep pace with the organization’s growth and take on new projects. We are seeking enthusiastic and diligent individuals to join our leadership team and support NSEN’s continued success!
Potential Duties
- Interfacing with NSEN member organizations across Nova Scotia.
- Working with staff to manage our website, social media, newsletter.
- Planning fundraising events, networking events, and webinars.
- Applying for grants and funds for staff and projects.
- Developing internal policies and long-term strategies to guide NSEN's future.
- Planning and leading meetings with government representatives.
- Supporting and working with NSEN’s environmental caucuses.
Skills Needed
We are hoping to fill one seat with an individual experienced in financial management to potentially take on the Treasurer role. A second seat is available for an individual with other skillsets.
We welcome any applicant with a positive attitude and a determination to learn and contribute! Bonus points for skills or experience with environmental non-profits, communication, organization, leadership, fundraising, policy, government relations, event planning, or creative problem-solving.

Online with optional in-person events.
Timeline
Early October 2025.
Commitment
Approximately 4 - 7 hours per month, depending on capacity. This includes attendance at monthly board meetings (2 hours).
