Webinar: Building Community Through Climate Action
Description
7 - 8 PM ADT on April 7th, 2026 (online via Zoom)
How do we encourage people to take action on climate change in a time when affordability and global upheaval are weighing us down? We know that shaming doesn’t work – and people don’t have the bandwidth to focus on more disaster. But there is a path forward – one which celebrates people’s unique gifts and invites them into community. Kate Brooks, from the Ecology Action Centre, will share about the HalifACT/EAC Climate Commitment Badge Program and its focus on building resilience and connection in the Halifax Regional Municipality.

Kate Brooks
Community Climate Navigator at Ecology Action Centre

Kate Brooks is a Community Climate Navigator with the Ecology Action Centre, collaborating with HalifACT and other community groups to create programs supporting climate action. Kate comes from a public library and adult education background and enjoys learning with and from community groups in the Halifax Regional Municipality. She also ran a subsistence farm in the Cape Breton hills for over 20 years and was involved in rural food system work. She believes that tackling the climate crisis will involve learning better ways of communicating, working with, and supporting one another - and that this moment is an opportunity for transformation, if we're wise enough to take it.
